Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)

Helium Transfills for Laboratory Magnets

Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, commonly known as NMR, is a research technique used in university, pharmaceutical, and hospital laboratories around the world. Maintaining your nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) system can be complex and requires time and effort. The NMR magnet is arguably the most important part of the NMR spectrometer. It is also one of the most expensive components of the NMR system. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the magnet is properly and professionally maintained.

Linde Cryomag Services was created to specifically address the transfilling needs of the NMR industry. It is part of the Linde, Inc. family, recognized for its in-depth experience in helium supply, related cryogen technologies and focused customer service. With over 20 years in the NMR industry, Linde Cryomag Services understands what it takes to sustain your magnet cryogen level requirements. Liquid helium transfilling is performed at your facility to eliminate downtime and keep your research programs and daily analyses on track. With our flexible delivery schedule, we can assist you in providing magnet fills when and where you need them.

Nitrogen For Cool Down

In addition to helium, nitrogen is also an important component of the magnet cooling process. Modern cryogen cooled magnets have a helium dewar that is shielded from external infrared radiation and surrounded by a liquid nitrogen dewar. The liquid nitrogen helps to absorb heat from outside the magnet and reduce the rate at which helium boils off. As a result, less liquid helium is used, providing cost savings since helium is more rare than nitrogen.
